“… The child was taken along with other unidentified minors after they had been coaxed by some sweets, juices and biscuits before being given Lifebuoy Soap as an antibacterial cleansing substance for the wounds. The father, Mr Sande, complained that the people involved, forcefully circumcised his son against values and customs of the Sena culture.”
MGM does not help prevent HIV infection.
Recent news from Botswana: “There is an upsurge of cases of people who got infected with HIV following circumcision.”
From Zimbabwe: “Some circumcised men are contracting HIV and Aids after ditching the use of condoms, under a misguided belief that male circumcision (MC) would prevent them from getting infected.”
From Kenya: “Push for male circumcision in Nyanza fails to reduce infections.”
From Uganda: “A new study of 314 female s-x workers (FSWs) in Makindye division found that more than half of respondents falsely believe that once a man is circumcised, protection is not necessary during sex.”
From Malawi: “According to the report, HIV rates have doubled in Malawi, moving from 10% to 20% in 1 year. Strangely, this has been the same period that Malawians have been forced to go through circumcision in masses with the promise that it reduces the contraction of HIV.”
Every time I read about the premise that HGM (Human Genital Mutilation) of males, Male Circumcision can help prevent the the transmission of STIs – including HIV – I wonder how gullible were the people at the WHO who perpetuated this myth – or have they a different agenda?
Condoms, Education, and Testing are surely better preventative measures.
The USA has a very high proportion of cut males – it also has high HIV transmission figures for heterosexual transmission.
“Following up the reports that Malawi24 released on 25 July that circumcision does not help in the reduction of HIV but exacerbates it, reports have emerged that have agreed with the facts that we had earlier established.
Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), one of the world’s renowned NGOs working on public health, has released statistics showing that HIV infection rate in Malawi has doubled in recent years despite a range of interventions put in place to tackle the spread of the virus that have included relentless campaign on condomisation and circumcision.
According to the statistics by MSF, HIV rates have doubled in Malawi moving from 10% to 20% in 1 year. Strangely, this has been the same period that Malawians have been manipulative forced to go through circumcision in masses with the promise that it reduces the contraction of HIV.
The results which were published on BBC and revealed that of every 5 people, 1 person is HIV positive have pitted Malawi as the country worst hit by the HIV pandemic of all countries in the world.”
